Year 6 Film Festival Our annual Year 6 Film festival has been a great success with highly professional short films being presented to our school community over three evenings at Glen Waverley Secondary College. Our year 6 students and teachers have worked very hard in producing these films. Our students have learnt how work in small groups to write scripts and to video, edit and add music and special effects to their films Prep transition Program Our transition from kindergarten to Prep has started with our 2010 prep children coming to school to enjoy PE and music lessons with our specialist and prep teachers. Our Glendal Athletics Carnival on 5 August was a great success. Swimming program Our students in years Prep to 4 will be participating in the swimming program in Term 4 RACV Energy Breakthrough Challenge Our Energy Breakthrough Teams will be conmpeting at Maryborough in November. "The RACV Energy Breakthrough is an exciting program designed to provide opportunities for students, teachers, parents and local industry to work together to design and construct a vehicle, a machine or innovation in technology that will represent an 'energy breakthrough'. The program encourages participants to examine and use the latest technology while considering its impact on the environment and the way people live locally and globally. Our RACV Energy Breakthrough isn't just a once-a-year event! School groups work throughout the year to design, build and test vehicles or machines within detailed specifications. It requires a team effort and an across-the-curriculum approach. These groups then bring their vehicles and machines to Maryborough in November, for a huge celebration in which they can demonstrate and trial them in action." Music Program The Glendal Band On Tour! On Thursday the 22nd of October, the Glendal Band visited the Glendal Preschool. The children performed some of their best music and each section of the Band performed a duet or a trio, except for Joseph and Manvina who had to play solos! The preschoolers loved the concert and were a fabulous audience. They recognised some of our music and asked questions. Afterwards they got up really close and touched the instruments and talked to the band members. Amazing Gold Coin Donations! On the last day of term 3 the children were treated to a super cool performance of "Rock Kids". The Music program received a huge number of gold coin donations which enabled us to buy not one, but two bass recorders and two tenors as well. A big THANKS to the Glendal community for their overwhelming generosity. |
