Parent InformationParental involvement and participation at Glendal Primary School is warmly invited and actively encouraged. We believe that active involvement in schools by parents and carers helps children achieve the best possible learning outcomes. You can participate in school life, both formally and informally, through school council, our parent club – Friends Of Glendal (FOG), volunteering and staying up to date with news about what is happening in education. Volunteer programs, where parents can directly participate in school activities include helping our on excursions, camps and school events, assistance with reading, mathematics and other school programs, and helping out in our library. The Mi Café – Meet and InformOur award winning community room, the Mi Café, is open to parents from 9.00am to 11.00am every morning. Our parents meet for a chat and cup of tea or cup of specially brewed coffee, enjoy getting to know new parents to the school, meet the principal or leadership team or just enjoy a quiet time reading. We regularly present workshops and information sessions for parents in our Mi Café. For example on Tuesday mornings we present a beginners Chinese class for parents so that they can support their child's learning of Chinese and each year we present workshops in Literacy and Numeracy for parent information on our teaching and learning programs. School Council The school council comprises parents, the principal, staff and two community members. It assists in setting the educational policy of a school. You don’t need any particular qualifications or experience - we look for enthusiastic parents who want to help improve the learning outcomes for all students. Elections to School Council must be completed by the end of March. All parents or guardians of students enrolled at the school are eligible to vote. Sub-committees of School Council include Finance; Curriculum and Buildings and Grounds. Friends Of Glendal (FOG)The Friends Of Glendal parent group aims to promote the interests of the school by bringing parents, teaching staff and community members into close co-operation as well as assisting financially in providing facilities and equipment for the school. It also provides members with an opportunity for participation and decision-making in the school. Glendal Uniform Supplier
